Dispute resolution and litigation
Elden Advokatfirma has one of Norway’s largest civil dispute resolution practices.
Litigation and dispute resolution have always been at the heart of our business. Each year, we litigate a large number of cases before the district courts, courts of appeal and the Supreme Court of Norway. Over the years, we have litigated many cases whose importance with respect to matters of legal principle have played a key part in the development of jurisprudence in Norway. [DVX31] Nine of our lawyers have the right to represent clients before the Supreme Court of Norway.
We are proud to be a law firm that handles major commercial disputes on behalf of Norwegian and international corporations, and also assists private individuals with smaller but no less important cases. The types of cases we litigate before the courts vary enormously, both with respect to their size and the areas of law concerned. Irrespective of the size and complexity of the case, we deliver a high-quality service, from the thoroughness of our preparation to our performance at the bar. A key aspect of every case is the assessment of procedural risk, choice of strategy and how the case should be presented in court.
Naturally, the best thing for our clients is for legal disputes not to arise. But once a dispute has arisen, it must be dealt with. Our lawyers can assist in all phases of the dispute resolution process – from attempts to reach a negotiated settlement, to various types of mediation and arbitration, to a full court hearing.
